this is a trailer for audition and it has a clip from the very scary scene i mentioned with the sing-song torture thing with needels.  i don't have sound on the computer i'm on at the moment, so i'm REALLY hoping that they caught the dreaded dee dee dee sound she was making as she pokes the needle in.  GOLLY, i hope its in there so you can here it.  it was sooo harsh!  can't wait to own it!

Let me know if the pic isn't showing up.  Woohoo.  SO, Blood Sucking Freaks!  One thing first, looking at the cover to the movie I was worried it was in black and white (nothing wrong with black and white, its just usually not my bag).
It Originally came out in 1976 and you can bet your guillotine it was banned, and banned in a LOT of places, including the US. Due to it age I do recommend if possible watching the dvd version, because the VHS we rented was old and failing.  Also, there's a new director's cut version out that isn't missing any thing.  I don't remember which version we ended up with, but just based on the quality of the tape I'd say its the older version.  And HECK, if that was the edited version I've GOT to see the directors cut!  If you go to the amazon site I have linked you'll notice there are a LOT of reviews for it.  You either LOVE this movie or you think its the worst thing EVER.  Guess which side I'm on?  LOL  One thing you need to keep in mind in this movie is that its meant to be a very, very gorey dark comdey type thing.  Definately horror, but hilarious.  Now, some of you may watch this and think I am one sick puppy to think its hilarious, that's ok.  It definately takes a certain kind of person to watch it and not be completely sickened.  In fact a large number of people woudln't be able to sit through it for a number of reasons.  First and the most blatant is the gore/torture.  There's a LOT of it.  But you just can't help but laugh at  Sardus (the main character) and his not so tall helper Ralphus.  In fact, in many scenes Ralphus' antics completely steal the show and left me rolling in laughter.  His gleeful dancing as he tightens the screws or straps someone new down, his attention to detail when cooking eye soup all causes for riotous laughter.  He's such a happy little sadist.  They both are.
This movie is great if you have the stomach for it.  It could be seen as really awful, the way women are treated (I've nothing against good old bondage so long as its consensual) and of course the torture, BUT you can't watch this movie without realizing the humor that's supposed to be seen in it.  Yeah, parts of the gore are indeed harsh and creepy and ouchy!  BUT its soooo funny.  I can't recommend the movie to everyone, just knowing how people are and that different people react differently, but if you've got a sense of humor about these things and are willing to get lost in how over the top the porducers were making it on purpose then its definately for you.  Its a great flick.  I can't quite throw it into the campy, funny as it is, but that's soley because of the gore ratio.  Woohoo, GO WATCH IT!!!  Here you can check out the trailer!  R tells me I should menton there's boobs in the trailer.  incase that's an issue for folks.  what the heck are you doing watching horror if you can't handle boobs what are you doing watching horror?  LOL, but i guess it really is worth mentioning.

new flicks coming for future review - what you have to look forward to [Oct. 5th, 2006|07:38 pm]

so, what's the damage?  lol.  things coming in the mail include the splat pak (a zombie four pack, actually i think 2 of them are zombies - one is called rock n roll frankenstein, so i'm not so sure)  i'm really kind of excited about zombie 90 out of there, but i'm hopeful for the rest of them.  then, and this is like the one i'm really, really excited about called burial ground.  zombie midget bites off his mom's nipple.  i think the midget is really supposed to be a kid, but heck i certainly wouldn't want my kid staring in that role, hence the happy midget.  can't beat that with a stick.  or well, it would be less fun to hit it with the stick than to watch it i'm guessing.  and it was going to just eat at me and eat at me, the whole fulci thing.  so long as i only needed one movie to complete the collection i could hold off on it.  twitchy, but maintainable.  BUT, knowing that the dang 3rd one had tricked me?  yeah that pushed me over the edge.  STILL, i was going to wait on it.  REALLY, that was the plan.  BUT NO, alas r said i could get it and i snatched it up.  never mind that i had a copy saved in my watched file on ebay (or the fact that a good 10 or so more scary movies now wait in said watched file).  i was holding out.  yeah...  urrr...  that's the story i'm sticking to.
what does this mean in the scheme of things?  soon we'll have 8 new zombies.  well, we already had z 5, but ick... who cares.  thus, the day of dead things on the 21st  can be a fulci day as well.  oh, i'm going to cream my pants i'm so happy.

The Dead Next Door a review [Oct. 3rd, 2006|11:05 am]

we watched the dead next door tonight!

amazon plot description:  "The government sets up a Zombie squad after an epidemic has made the world run rampant with living corpses. Raimi, Mercer, Kuller, and others head off to Ohio to try and find a cure to the epidemic but soon run into a crazy cult of zombie lovers who are set on preserving the zombies and letting a new world be born because they believe that it's God's will. When Mercer gets infected with the zombie virus, Raimi and the others must work quickly to find a cure and avoid the cult. "

This flick was made by zombie movie fans let me tell you.  they named the bulk of the characters after the great zombie movie directors.  the "main" character was a guy that had bruce campbell's hair style from evil dead, his body shape, if not his face, AND HIS VOICE.  i mean, he's talking before you see him i'm LIKE OH MY GOD THEY GOT BRUCE to play in this!!!  i was crushed when it wasn't him, but that's ok, cause it was all so funny and over the top.  it was a good fun zombie flick, made by this guy and a bunch of people from his home town who helped out with no budget to speak of and it still was a great flick.  it wasn't a romero by far, but it was still definately worth having bought.  i'm so happy its in our collection.  i'm getting a little pissed that deep red hasn't shown up yet, but it should come.  i think i got that one through amazon, so i've never had trouble with them before.  the movie itself has of course some plot holes, but on the whole it was a hoot.  a real tribute to the genre!
